Things are going pretty good over here...just trying to recover and get the breast feeding thing down with Will. He is doing pretty good, all he does is sleep sleep sleep...and eat, and poop...he is so tiny...I had to take him yesterday to get his belirubin (sp?) checked again b/c he is yellow, and his levels were not dangerous...so the doctor said he is ok, unless he keeps turning yellow, then he might need light therapy. Kaylyn is handling everything very well. She hasn't really acted that jealous at all yet. She always wants to know where Will is, and always says, "that's my baby brother"...hopefully she continues to have such a good attitude. By the way, anyone can come visit us...this weekend might not be good b/c my whole family will be here...but if you are not intimidated by large crowds of loud people, you are welcome to come join the chaos.

Will is 4 days old today, I just can't believe that I have another baby and that I am not on bed rest any more. I think I finally realized what I had been through on our way home from the hospital on Saturday...it was very surreal. About the delivery, let's just say it was nothing like delivery with Kaylyn...it was much scarier. So let me recount what all went down. I went to the hospital early on Wednesday morning with painful cramping. They hooked me up to all the monitors, and I was contracting every 5-8 minutes...but things weren't really progressing...my cervix wasn't dilating and my contractions weren't getting any stronger. About 4 pm I finally took some pain medicine, and it pretty much relaxed everything and my contractions slowed way down. Will's heart was doing some funky stuff (it is called variables) so Dr. Adam said I should stay over night on the monitors and we would see where we were in the morning. Based on our conversation I thought I would get sent home in the morning, which caused me to basically lose it, I had been up since 3am, with nothing to eat, and contracting alot and now it was like, ok well, stay hooked up to your monitors and your IV and have a nice night...I was pissed, and exhausted...Dr. Adam said I could have something to eat, but not too much. I cried hysterically for about 10 minutes, then I got some food in me and went to sleep. Stephen stayed at the hospital with me, and around 7am the nurses came in and said Dr. Adam wanted to start inducing me...I was surprised...but so ready to get on with it. Dr. Adam said his heart was still having variables and that, “she was sick of it”… So around 8 am they started the pitocin, which is what helps labor get going...around 11am or so I asked for my epidural I continued to contract every 3 to 4 minutes, and Will's heart continued to D-Cell (slow down)...they were flipping me from side to side to get his heart rate back up...they literally had to flip me b/c my legs were almost completely numb...around 2 or 3pm I started to feel alot of pressure (by the way if you haven't gathered I bailed on getting a c-section...which I think was a good decision...at least so far) they told me not to push, to let my body push him down, b/c when I did push, Will had a hard time recovering...so I had to try not to push, and it was the weirdest sensation I have ever felt. With Kaylyn I never felt any pressure or contractions or anything...so this was all new to me. About 3:30 I told them I thought he was going to fall out...they paged Dr. Adam and she ran over from her office and got there around 4:00...I pushed 4 times, and out he came...well actually he had the cord wrapped twice around his neck, so tight that the Dr. had to cut the cord from his neck before fully delivering him...which was probably the reason his heart rate kept dropping. As soon as he came out the neonatal team whisked him away b/c his heart had been dropping...it ended up being an unnecessary action, but they wanted to be safe. My mom and Stephen and I just cried and cried...We had all been through so much, and we all felt such a sense of relief that Will was here and safe, and healthy...there isn't a better feeling in the entire world. Will has been a very good baby so far. He is catching on quick to breastfeeding and is a very good sleeper. I am just so thankful...words cannot express.
